April 6th - April 10th
Hello families!
What a wonderful week of learning we wrapped up. The students had a blast with the Sound Kreations residency, showing off their choreography and dance skills. They did a fantastic job with their performance this afternoon!
Learning Intentions:
Grade 3:
I can investigate relationships between seconds, minutes, and hours using an analog clock.
I can describe time of day as A.M. or P.M.
I can express time of day in relation to one 24 hour cycle.
Tell time using analog and digital clocks.
Grade 4:
I can relate durations of minutes to fractions of a circle.
I can express time of day using fractions.
I can convert between measurements of time, including seconds, minutes, hours, and days.
I can calculate elapsed time.
Ms. Andreea finished off our Time unit this week by completing a check-in. Grade 3s worked on a poster to represent their learning of time while the Grade 4s wrapped up their learning, practicing solving word problems where they calculated duration and elapsed time. The Grade 4s began their check-in on Thursday and were given time to complete it this morning. Next week, we will return to our Multiplication and Division learning.
Learning Intentions:
Grade 3:
I can investigate and discuss how plants and animals respond to stimuli in their environments in order to survive
I can explore food chains in local environments
Grade 4:
I can discuss how plants respond to sensory stimuli
I can relate the external structures of plants to their functions
I can find and classify examples of local plants and animals based on appearance, habitat, and structures
Our Living Systems unit has been a fun way to get prepared for Aggie Days next week. We are investigating the ways animals and plants interact with each other, and the ways their specific structures help them to survive. We defined organisms and discussed the four main kingdoms of living things (plants, animals, bacteria, fungi), played a fun sorting game classifying local organisms, and explored simple food chains with producers, consumers, and decomposers. Next week, we will begin our specific research project in preparation for our dioramas. Please send your student to school with a shoe box and any extra cardboard you may have at home if you are able to! Thank you!
Ways to Continue Learning at Home:
Play “Salute” with your student to practice basic multiplication and division facts.
Go for a walk and take note of how organisms are using their structures to survive.
